Griffin Dominates Eurosatory with Augmented Reality Demonstrations

DEP imaging utilizes Augmented Reality to demonstrate the superior fused digital night vision capabilities of its newest product, Griffin

June 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Visitors to Eurosatory have been lining up at DEP imaging’s booth at Eurosatory in order to experience the Griffin in Augmented reality. Augmented reality works by detecting when the user reveals a preset marker to one of two 1.7 m screens. The AR processor then calculates the marker’s position relative to the display, and generates a real-time computer generated image on the screen over the user’s own image.  Visitors to both DEP imaging’s booth and homepage have been thrilled to see themselves take control of a computer generated Griffin.

According to DEP imaging CEO Giorgio Salvo, “Selecting augmented reality is the perfect medium for demonstrating the Griffin’s advanced digital capabilities.  While completely different applications, both prove how digital imaging can revolutionize the way we see and experience information.”

Griffin combines the unparalleled detection capabilities of thermal imaging with the superior identification capabilities of image intensification into one powerful fusion module – the Griffin.  By applying newly developed, proprietary image fusion techniques in order to extract the strengths of both output images, Griffin produces a contrast-enhanced image on its 1.3 Megapixel micro OLED display that allows the user to simultaneously detect and identify targets safely and securely from an extended range, improving operator survivability.

Experience augmented reality and the powerful fusion capabilities of Griffin from now until June 18 at Eurosatory Hall 6, Booth J101. More information about the Griffin and the next generation of digital night vision technology, as well as the ability to experience augmented reality at home is online at www.depimaging.com/AR.
