Follow on Google News | Motorcycles, Magical Sculptures & Mystic Mazes at the Red Bluff Art GalleryThree new exhibits open at the Red Bluff Art Gallery on Friday, July 2nd, from 5-8 PM and on Saturday, July 3rd from noon to 5 PM.
Popular sculptural eccentric, Jay Murphy, opens in the Main Hall with his enticing and magical sculptures and paintings. Jay will be showing about 17 new pieces, including pieces with themes like “Terrarium Lizard”, “Pursuit of Happiness”, “Royalty in Brickware”, and “Son of Ra”. “My creations are composite of many cultures, the many great artists of history and what my subconscious tweak contributes. An artist can’t entirely avoid all the influences from his or her experiences and that bleeds into creations that are totally unique,” Jay says. Art Professor Tonya Gregg reveals a bit of her inner-self with colorful and dramatic paintings with a mostly-motorcycle theme. She will be showing a collection from two series, “bikers” and a “random fun series”. Tonya attended the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts Gifted and Talented Program at Furman University. She has won numerous awards and holds a BFA degree from the Maryland Institute, College of Art and an MFA from the University of Chicago. Gregg’s vibrant paintings have been in national and international solo, juried, and group shows. Rounding of this trio of exhibits is the very accomplished and interesting Eugenie Hirsch. Eugenie brings new intricacies and hidden meanings in her paintings that often appear as mystical mazes. Her work has been a favorite at the Gallery for several years. The Reception is Friday evening, July 2nd, from 5-8 PM and will also be extended for this exhibition to Saturday, July 3rd, from Noon-5 PM. The Saturday Reception will feature live music with Ira Walker. The Red Bluff Art Gallery is located at 601 Walnut Street (across from Wells Fargo Bank). Food, drink and live music are featured at the First Friday Art Event every first Friday of the month. Everyone is welcome. Dress is casual.
