Summer Programs at The Hollywood Film & Acting Academy

The Academy is offering two powerful one-month programs this summer: The One Month Ultimate Film Making Program and The One Month Ultimate Acting Program. 1 Month Ultimate Acting Program
In this class you will learn the basics in film acting techniques, improvisation and scene study.  In the final week the students will be focused pre production, production and post production on a completed short film.  Each student will be required to attend every step in each production aspect. Classes will be everyday from 6pm-10pm Monday-Friday.  This is not for the faint at heart.  You must be motivated and not easily discouraged.  100% effort is required.

Week 1 Technique
Every student will learn the two most popular techniques used in acting; Stanislavsky and Meisner. They will learn relaxation exercises, and how to use their own experiences in acting using each method.

Week 2 Improvisation/Scene Study
Each student will learn the importance of improvisation in today’s acting world and how to use improvisation as a method in making strong character choices in scenes. Start scene study.

Week 3 Scene Study/Acting for the Camera
Each student will learn to breakdown a script and build a strong character. They will learn how to answer the basic questions of scene study. Who, what, when, where, and the relationship of each character. Audition techniques will be introduced. They will also learn how to act for the camera, i.e. blocking, repetitive movement, ect. Rehearsal of the short.

Week 4 Production
Each student will learn will learn the process of making a movie. They will be required to attend pre-production meetings and all post production edit sessions to be a more well rounded actor.

1 Month Ultimate Film Making Program
Running five days in the evenings 4 hours each day, this program consists of three different stages: Pre-production, Production and Post-production.

Week 1 Instruction/Pre-production
You will learn the basics in Writing, Directing, Cinematography & Editing.
As a class you will write a 10 minute script that you will be shooting, you will learn how to work with actors, light and shoot a scene you will also be introduced to editing. You will place casting notices as well as hold auditions. Class time is 4 hours a day, but your home work will be another 3-6 hours a day.

Week 2 production
This is where you put your skills to the test. You will be shooting the movie that you wrote! Class is 8-12 hrs a day during this time period. For roughly one week you will be on location, using the tools that you acquired during the Instruction and Pre-production phase of the program.

Week 3 & 4 Post-production
This is where you cut all of the footage that you shot using Final Cut Pro. Take a breath, but not a deep one, because at this point the post-production will begin. You will learn how editing with professional editors, sound with professional sound people, voice overs, Final Cut Pro - everything that is involved in the process after the filming is done. The program will finish with you exporting your film to different formats and getting it ready for festivals and distribution.

These programs are limited to 6 students each.
