By: Autohaus of Peoria The new Panamera, which was originally launched with three V8 versions last October, became the German sports car company’s first four-door luxury sedan in its storied history. Starting this month Porsche will add two new iterations to the Panamera’s formidable lineup: the six-cylinder Panamera and Panamera 4, both of which are powered by an all-new, Porsche-designed 3.6-liter, 90-degree V6 with Direct Fuel Injection and 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. This powerful V6 will propel the Panamera and Panamera 4 from a standing start to 60 mph in just 6 seconds and 5.8 seconds, respectively. The top track speeds are 160 and 159 mph, respectively. When first brought to market the Panamera model was a history making car for Porsche and one that essentially established a new vehicle concept. Since the launch in October, Porsche has sold more than 4,000 Panameras in the U.S. alone. “The Panamera has not only excited Porsche owners, it has also brought in many new customers who have not previously thought of buying a Porsche before,” said Gary Pearl, Dealer Principal. “With the addition of the new V6, we will offer even more choices in the Panamera model lineup.” As a whole, while these new models provide high levels of performance, agility and comfort and the same safety systems found in the V8 Panameras, they return even better fuel economy figures than the already efficient Panamera S, 4S and Turbo. The V6 Panamera achieves 18 mpg city/27 highway while the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4 delivers 18 mpg/26 highway. And, they are not subject to the gas guzzler tax. “The V6’s fuel economy numbers will no doubt appeal to customers who want Porsche’s unparalleled driving excitement and are also looking for even better fuel efficiency,” The Panamera and Panamera 4 MSRP are $74,400 and $78,900, excluding destination.
