June 3, 2010 - PRLog -- The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has held the annual event since 1972 and this year it will be hosted by Rwanda on June 5th and will celebrate the incredible diversity of the environment as part of the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity.
Young people are essential to the long term success of the project and the service launched by Yamgo, the global mobile TV and video network, will allow the UN to connect with a young universal audience. Yamgo has partnered with Green.TV, the world’s first and leading online TV channel dedicated to the environment, to deliver clips and short films, from some of the world’s leading environmental organisations, to raise awareness and promote the significant occasion.

Mike Lamond, Managing Director of Green.TV explained, “World Environment Day (WED) is one of the primary vehicles through which the United Nations encourages worldwide understanding of the environment and 2010 is aimed to be the biggest, most extensively celebrated, global day for definite, environmental action. Green TV’s partnership with both UNEP and Yamgo enables us to promote the importance of the environment to a young international audience and raise awareness and understanding of such a substantial subject on such a momentous day.”

By delivering the free optimised streaming service to almost any mobile device, Yamgo aims to compliment the agenda of the World Environmental Day and help promote the human face of ecological issues, increase the understanding of concerns that affect all of humanity and empower young people to become involved in manageable and ethical development.
The service will deliver videos from organisations such as UNEP, WWF, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and the RSPB to users of almost any mobile device using a 3G or Wi-Fi connection. Whilst enjoying the selection of ecological videos, users can also access the Yamgo catalogue containing thousands of other video clips and live TV channels.

Yamgo CEO and Founder Ian Mullins added, “World Environment Day is the people's day for environmental action and everyone can take part. Mobilizing the younger population can often be difficult therefore Yamgo is proud to be galvanising support for this considerable event by delivering high quality mobile video to an international audience. Yamgo presents a state-of-the-art solution to raising awareness and understanding of such a substantial subject on such a momentous day.”

The free live TV and video service provides almost all mobile consumers with the highest possible picture quality using the existing video player in the user’s mobile phone and does not require any additional software or application download.
Yamgo operates optimised streaming that adapts the picture quality to the available network connectivity, minimising any buffering and providing a viewing experience even whilst on the move.
