Macomber and Ehrsam see additional benefits in teaming up their knowledge, team and resources.  “The partnership is an effort to standardize inspection procedures, POE procedures and reporting.  The more we do things the same, the better the benchmark for this new industry that is growing up around the corrosive drywall issue,” states Macomber.  

The two professionals also believe that in partnering they will also be able to provide much more valuable insight and experience for both their professional clients and their homeowner clients.

Ehrsam and Macomber both got into the Chinese drywall investigation business because they individually had Chinese drywall in their homes and properties like many of their homeowner clients.  Ehrsam owns investment properties with corrosive drywall in Southeast Florida.  Macomber built a house for his own personal use that contained it.  Their independent efforts to research what was happening to their homes and properties resulted in both offering services to consumers who were also impacted by it.  Ehrsam and Macomber met through attendance at numerous industry seminars and found that their interests in providing factual information and genuine assistance to others interested in or impacted by Chinese or corrosive drywall dovetailed and they decided to pair up together to assist each other in Preservation of Evidence activities so that they could provide larger regional coverage for their clients.

The preservation services that the companies provide are based on Pre-Trial Order No. 1(B) through the United States District Court Eastern District of Louisiana.  It is absolutely critical that home and property owners take steps to preserve their claims through the court system by following the protocol issued before they do any type of remediation or repair or if they choose to sell, short sell or walk away from an impacted property.

Corrosive or tainted drywall, also known as “Chinese” drywall, is generally present in homes built as early as 2001 to 2008.  To date home and property owners from 38 states across the United States have reported the presence of tainted drywall in their properties to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
