Apple Gadgets Community about USB to DVI HDMI VGA Multi Display Converter

It's OK, if you have a bad dvi port, you need to use an USB to DVI Video Adapter or an USB to DVI HDMI VGA Video Adapter to make it. And then you can connect your HDTV (at least 32 inch) to your laptop or computer at FULL 1080P.

May 19, 2010 - PRLog -- I've got a busted DVI port that won't output any video. I've run through several tests and it's definitely the port. I have an older MacBook pro and wondered if it was possible to use my USB ports to connect to an external monitor, TV or LCD projector. Thanks in advance for any help.

USB to video is possible but there are caveats to consider. For one, USB is a low bandwidth pipeline when compared with a typical graphics bus, so if you plan on watching 720p movies over the interface, forget it. Same with gaming and such. But if you just plan to use it for surfing, mail and other non-graphics intensive applications, then it can be a solution for you. To be honest, USB or Firewire Based Video Card's transfer is lower (more or less) than PCI or default Video Adaper card. It's OK, if you have a bad dvi port, you need to use an USB to DVI Video Adapter or an USB to DVI HDMI VGA Video Adapter to make it. And then you can connect your HDTV (at least 32 inch) to your laptop or computer at FULL 1080P. BWT, keep in mind that download the latest multi display usb video adapter driver. I have been having some issues when using my Philips CRT 30" 1080i HDTV as a second monitor via a DVI->HDMI cable. There seems to be a discoloration that occurs (my best guess being a "green" discoloration) that occurs in the top left corner of the screen. It is made all the more apparent when you then unplug, and a purple haze is left in the corner of the "blue" video input channel. (i imagine the green discoloration on the blue channel yields purple).

From what I can tell, this problem does not occur on any other video input (say, a Wii on the composite channel, or an XBOX on the component, etc). I had heard rumblings that it could be, in order of bad to worst: a bad HDMI cable, a bad HDMI input on the television, or the television going bad period. Wanted to know if any of you have had or heard of similar experiences. Need to decide soon if I'm going to had to just buy a new HDMI cable, or if I need to buy a new television/monitor for a job coming up.
