May 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Fort Lauderdale, FL – Riverwalk Trust sponsors an Urban Market every Saturday along the Riverwalk at Esplanade Park, 400 SW 2nd St, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market features fruits and vegetables, baked items, seafood, cheeses, pottery and other   goods. The goal of the market is to activate the Riverwalk and to provide a service to the downtown and surrounding neighborhood residents.

The market is across from the Museum of Discovery and Science and IMAX Theater.  Admission to the market is free and it’s open to the public. Parking is $1 an hour in the garage at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

The market’s launch on April 24 was a huge success.  Many local residents and people from all over South Florida stopped by to purchase unique and unusual products.  The waterfront market delights browsers with a kaleidoscope of colors, aromas and tastes.  Visitors find organic produce, plus seafood, pastries, fruit smoothies, specialty coffees, granola, jams, jellies, oils and spices, olive mixes, pastas, sauces, mozzarella, breads, doughnuts, muffins, ceviche, guacamole, teas, organic healing herbs, kettle corn, homemade lemonade, soaps, orchids and more.

“The Urban Market is a great opportunity for the Riverwalk Trust to draw people from the downtown and surrounding areas, support local businesses and help bring the Riverwalk Park to life,” said Riverwalk Trust President and CEO Cindi Hutchinson.

Riverwalk Trust serves as the catalyst in building and nurturing Riverwalk as a vibrant community connected by the New River. Riverwalk Trust accomplishes this mission through advocacy on behalf of the Riverwalk Park, communication through its website and Go Riverwalk magazine, its diverse offerings of events and its membership activities. Riverwalk Trust is currently pursuing projects to enhance and protect the integrity of the Riverwalk community, such as design guidelines for thoughtful development, funding for capital improvements and park enhancements, park programming and sustainability, management and final completion. It is our goal to create a public space in Downtown Fort Lauderdale where the many functions of community life can take place, where people feel ownership and connectedness and where they perceive their riverfront park as true common ground. In short, we strive to create a great waterfront place where people want to be.
