May 17, 2010 - PRLog -- On Saturday, May 15th the Society for Information Management, RTP Chapter (SIM-RTP) and Kramden Institute teamed up to refurbished 70 used computers for deserving, less-advantaged students.  The event was held at the Kramden headquarters 4915 Prospectus Drive, Durham, NC 27713. SIM-RTP was the main sponsor for the event and over 40 SIM-RTP members, family, friends and co-workers made the Geek-a-Thon a great success.

“We are very pleased with the results from this Geek-a-Thon and very appreciative of the generous financial support and volunteers from SIM-RTP”, says Mark Dibner, Executive Director of Kramden.  “Over the years SIM-RTP has been very supportive of the Geek-a-Thon computer builds and has provided many used computer donations”.

“This is just one of the many ways SIM-RTP gives back to the community”, says Dennis Daniel, SIM-RTP President. “It is especially rewarding for our group to provide these computers to children that would not normally have the opportunity to own a computer.  Kramden runs a great event and we are proud to be associated with the Kramden Geek-a-Thon”.
