HTC Will Pay Royalty To Microsoft For Using Android

The Following Press Release has the latest information about HTC going to pay Microsoft a royalty amount as its mobile phones are running on Google's Android.

May 11, 2010 - PRLog -- HTC which is a Taiwanese mobile maker is ready to pay royalties to Microsoft. HTC has agreed to do so as HTC Mobile Phones(http://www.mobilerainbow.co.uk/mobile-phones/htc-mobile-phones.asp) using Google's Android mobile operating system.

The operating system of Microsoft is Windows. The license to use Windows on their cell phones many mobile manufacturers are being given the licence by Microsoft. Microsoft did not reveal what would be the amount of royalties that HTC is going to pay.
The OS owner informed that the patent agreement "provides broad coverage under Microsoft's patent portfolio for HTC's mobile phones running the Android mobile platform."
A statement by Microsoft's deputy general counsel of intellectual property, Horacio Gutierrez read, "Microsoft has a decades-long record of investment in software platforms."
He said, "As a result, we have built a significant patent portfolio in this field, and we have a responsibility to our customers, partners, and shareholders to ensure that competitors do not free ride on our innovations."
Gutierrez brought to notice that Microsoft has taken  "a proactive approach to licensing to resolve IP infringement by other companies, and have been talking with several device manufacturers to address our concerns relative to the Android mobile platform."
The upcoming mobile phone from Google Nexus One would be appearing on HTC only. HTC has been chosen as The company is known to come up with extraordinary pieces of art.
