Stosur is World No. 8

May 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Samantha Stosur is today ranked No. 8 in the world after reaching the final in Stuttgart at the weekend.

She has won eleven out of twelve matches this season, playing at her best on the claycourts, but she is suffering a sore right arm and has opted to miss out on the ATP World Tour in Rome this week in order to rest up ahead of the season’s second grand slam event starting in Paris on May 23.

She is the only world top-10 player not competing in Italy, where Serena Williams is top seed in her first tournament since winning a fifth Australian Open crown in January.

Stosur was a surprise semi-finalist at last year’s French Open and hopes will be high after her performance against Justine Henin in the finals at the weekend. Henin has won the French open four times in the past.
