AIMA a Pioneer in Distance Learning

April 29, 2010 - PRLog -- DISTANCE education is the process of extending learning or delivery of instructional resources to locations away from classrooms.

The objective of such programmes is to give opportunities to those disadvantaged — financially, geographically or by time constraints. It helps them to acquire knowledge, skills and qualifications to support them in getting good employment opportunities and promotions in the current job.

Distance education has become the need of the hour at a time when Indian economy is showing positive trends.

Almost one- fifth of the total student community is benefiting through such programmes and it is likely to grow further in future. According to estimates, learners in distance education are growing at the rate of 33 per cent each year.

Distance education today is an institution based formal education where the learning groups are separated geographically and where interactive systems are used to connect learners, resources and instructors. The development in telecommunication has strongly supported the concept of distance education through realtime technologies such radio, television, computers, video- conferencing and the Internet.

The All India Management Association ( AIMA) has been a pioneer in distance education since 1993. The AIMA— Centre for Management Education ( CME) offers programmes like PG Diploma in Management, PG Diploma in Information Technology Management, PG Certificate in Management and Advance Certificate in Management, approved by the AICTE and DEC. Though offered in distance learning mode, the programmes offer the rigour and depth of regular programmes.

The flexibility of these programmes helps the student to take the programme at his own pace and location of their convenience. The AIMA alumni are today working in the best of the organisations across the world.
