Indians make beeline for LBS Dubai’s MBA

April 29, 2010 - PRLog -- WHILE the London Business School ( LBS) remains a top draw for Indian students to pursue a management degree, its lesser known ancillary, the LBS- Dubai centre, also attracts a sizeable number of Indians every year for its one- year executive MBA. “ Despite the means, not everyone has the time for a two- year programme,” said Rahul Dhadphale, regional director of LBS Middle East on the sidelines of the 3rd annual business forum conference held in Delhi on Wednesday.

Most Indians who opt for the Dubai centre, join their family business after the completion of the programme. “ In some cases, people also need to fly frequently between the two countries for business purpose, and in that case London may not be a practical idea,” he said. The one- year executive MBA, which was started in 2007, has nearly 38 per cent of the batch coming from countries other than the UAE. “ This gives the course a truly international character,”.

The Dubai centre also offers an executive education programme which covers areas such as leadership, human resources, finance and general management.

The courses are run at the Dubai International Financial Centre.

The institute is also known for conducting in company programmes in countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India. “ These are custom designed for the company and generally try to address leadership and operational challenges of the company,” he said.

The programmes can range from a day to a week or a month and, unlike a conference, involve interaction with the staff to help them increase their output according to the company demands.

The Dubai centre will soon be working in collaboration with IIM Ahmedabad to design a programme for the Indian Police Service ( IPS). “ Our main task is to make them tech- savvy and break free from the bureaucratic mode of working.
