MTS launches mobile TV on its data card

April 27, 2010 - PRLog -- MTS of India, a joint venture between Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) and Sistema Group of Russia, has announced the launch of a new mobile TV service based on its MBlaze mobile broadband data cards using an EVDO technology. By this move made possible through a partnership with Hyderabad based Apalya Technologies,  MTS is positioning itself as a key player in the new battleground of mobile IPTV market alongside with Tata Teleservices (Photon TV) and Virgin Mobile.

Typically, the service is accessible to users of MBlaze modems -after downloading the application for free only data charges of usage will be applicable- who can watch 60 live and video on demand (VOD) channels on the move. The channels may be from among the news, entertainment, sports, kids and regional language categories. Some channels that are available are Cartoon Network, CNBC Awaaz, CNN, ESPN MobileTV, IBN7, India TV, NDTV 24X7, Pogo, TV9 Mumbai, Zoom, Aaj Tak etc.

It woul be recalled that MTS is a new entrant in the Indian mobile market and has proven to be a fast growing operator with average monthly net adds of around 250,000 customers, thus enabling it to close 2009 with more than 3 million subscribers according to Dataxis Intelligence last updates.
