For-a Collects Two Awards For New Products At Nab 2010

April 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Fort Lee, N.J. – Two new products from FOR-A, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, were recognized with awards from two industry magazines at the 2010 NAB Show in Las Vegas, Nev., last week. Broadcast Engineering awarded one of its Pick Hits to the LTR-100HS Video Archive Recorder, while TV Technology gave one of its STAR Awards to the CEQ-100HS Color Equalizer.

A combination of LTO tape technology and FOR-A’s baseband and MXF file technologies, the LTR-100HS makes file ingest workflow more efficient and reduces archive space requirements. Designed to support LTO-5 technology, the latest standard in long-term, high-capacity tape storage, the unit can record approximately 50 hours of programming at 50 Mbps (stored as MXF files) to LTO-5 tape. The compact LTR-100HS includes an LTO-5 drive, 2 TB hard drive, LCD monitor, and front panel controls, plus connectivity for file-based I/O and external VTR control. Embedded IBM Long Term File System (LTFS) technology enables various systems to read and write a file on LTO-5 tape directly and improves the archive application workflow.



The CEQ-100HS provides a variety of monitoring options, as well as camera calibration functions, for the growing 3D production market. With its built-in frame synchronizers, it allows stereo 3D filming with cameras that have no external synchronous input. The compact unit also offers automatic color calibration, which helps correct color between pictures from both cameras, and adjusts the horizontal parallax, which determines the depth of the 3D images.



Pick Hits are determined by a panel of independent judges, who base their selections on several criteria, including the technical and financial improvements a product can bring to a facility’s operation. The STAR Awards (Superior Technology Award Recipient) celebrate and showcase technological innovations for the media industry, and are awarded to products and services based on nominations from TV Technology editors and columnists.
