April 13, 2010 - PRLog -- The government is committed to consult on the introduction of display energy certificates (DECs), which illustrates the energy useage of commercial premises. Ministers said that DECs should be introduced to provide a better understanding of carbon emissions and their buildings energy use. A focus on energy use could potentially save businesses on energy bills by reducing their carbon footprint.

As a DEC is based on actual energy useage, owners and occupiers can become more aware of their energy use. Currently, the display energy certificates are only required for public buildings over a certain size. However, it may not be long until the Government make them mandatory for all UK businesses.
