Do San Diegans need quake insurance?

April 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Sunday's earthquake is the biggest the region has seen in more than a decade, but research shows many homeowners are going without earthquake insurance. So do you really need it?

Every day is earthquake season in California, but not everyone is protected when a temblor hits.

Mark Shapiro with Quality Claims Management hasn't seen an increase in calls since Sunday's 7.2 magnitude earthquake, but says it is a good time to go through your homeowner's policy with a fine-tooth comb.

"Most homeowners' policies do cover damage from fires and damage from water and one of the biggest problems you have in an earthquake is those kinds of damages," Shapiro said.
