April 2, 2010 - PRLog -- In the spring of 1946, a mass grave was unearthed in the Hungarian village of Abda, which included the body of poet Miklos Radnoti, who had been shot by Hungarian fascists eighteen months earlier. Sewn into his clothing was a small notebook of poems that told the story of his final six months; a time spent first laboring in a Nazi camp in Serbia, and then on a three-month forced march to Abda, where he was killed when he was too weak to continue. Through the use of evocative, lyrical Super 8mm footage, readings of the poems, and interviews with those who knew him, Perez's documentary feature debut tells the story of one poet's triumph over inhumanity.

This film is part of the larger North Dade Holocaust Films and Lectures Series and is being presented by the Michael-Ann Russell JCC, Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus, and The Foundation for Holocaust Education Projects in commemoration of Yom HaShoah – the Holocaust Remembrance Day. Included in this series is a lecture and chance to meet Joanne Caras, author of “Holocaust Survivors Cookbook” on April 7; “A Story of Survival and Courage” with Holocaust Survivor Anita Karl on Friday, April 9; the film “Dancing with Torah: A Young Man’s Search of a Holocaust Torah” on Sunday, April 11; and the film “Eagles Over Auschwitz: The Triumph of the Return-Israel Air Force F-15’s over Auschwitz” also on Sunday, April 11.
