Local Bar Association Announces Results of Judicial Poll of Candidates

The Louisville Bar Association has released the results of its judicial poll of candidates seeking election to seats in Jefferson Circuit and District Courts in Kentucky.

March 30, 2010 - PRLog -- The Louisville Bar Association (LBA) has announced the results of a poll to determine attorneys’ opinions of candidates seeking election to seats in Jefferson Circuit and District Courts.

A total of 21 candidates are running for seats in Jefferson Circuit Court (Divisions 6 and 11), and Jefferson District Court (Divisions 3, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, and 17).

Approximately 4,000 active members of the Kentucky Bar Association residing and or working in Jefferson County were given the opportunity to take part in this year’s poll—of those, 535 (8%) were returned ballots on or before the poll deadline.

Attorneys were asked to check the appropriate response for each candidate: Highly Qualified; Qualified; Unqualified; Do Not Know Candidate; and, Not Rated.

The results, tabulated by the independent accounting firm of Deming Malone Livesay & Ostroff, are in no way an endorsement of any candidate by the Louisville Bar Association, its officers, directors, or staff. The results reflect the opinions of the individual lawyers who submitted a completed ballot. All responses remain anonymous. Results can be viewed and downloaded from the LBA’s website at www.loubar.org.

The Judicial Candidate Poll has been conducted by the LBA since 1982. The intent of the poll is to provide a measure of guidance to the community to help evaluate the candidates. The poll seeks input from Kentucky lawyers who are actively practicing in Jefferson County. Because judges are different from other elected officials, and often unknown to the general public, the LBA assists in providing reliable information to the public through a poll of those who have had professional contact with the candidates.
