When news needs to be spread, no other medium is as fast as the online forum Twitter. Now plastic technology specialist, igus® Inc., is using the popular social network to keep its customers up-to-date with the latest information.

The company uses the freely accessible website to give tips and links to news stories and how-to articles in the form of 140 character ‘micro blogs’.

An igus spokesperson explains, “We wanted to enable people using the Twitter network a way to tap into our latest news and information as soon as it was released, rather than having to wait to be notified some other way.

“This doesn’t supplant other ways in which we interact with our customers and prospects; instead it’s designed to compliment our existing communication methods, such as our monthly e-newsletters.”
