New Jersey Adoption Lawyer Attends Law Retreat in Aruba

Deena L. Betze made the ultimate sacrifice again this year by attending the New Jersey State Bar Association Family Law Section Retreat on behalf of the firm.  This year's retreat was held in Aruba from March 10th through the 13th where Deena, along with other matrimonial lawyers and forensic experts from throughout the state, attended family law seminars and workshops on the following divorce law topics:

The Savings Quandary:  What is "savings" for alimony determination purposes?  Is savings everything not spent, or must there be a designated marital purpose savings?  Is saving during the pendency of the case appropriate to factor in for interim support? What factors should be considered in determining the savings component of support?  
What Judges and Lawyers Want From Each Other: A round table discussion between attorneys and judges, offering both the judges' and attorneys' perspectives.

Deena L. Betze has been engaged in the practice of law in New Jersey since 1991.  In addition to her memberships in the New Jersey State Bar Association Family Law Section and the Camden, Burlington and Gloucester County bar associations, Ms. Betze also serves as a matrimonial early Settlement panelist in all three counties.  She is a Master in the Thomas J. Forkin Family Law American Inn of Court where she currently serves as President-Elect.  She has appeared on the TV shows "Legal Line" and "Law Talk" as a family law panelist and has been a family law panelist for the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) as well as serving for six years as an instructor for the Family Law Skills and Methods Course previously required for newly admitted attorneys.  Ms. Betze also appeared on the nationally syndicated television show, "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway," on the subject of step-parent adoption.
