R4i Gold,DSTTi, M3i Zero and other DS R4 Alternatives

March 16, 2010 - PRLog -- There are a lot of alternatives to the Nintendo DS R4 Revolution. They all really do pretty much the same thing – act as an flash card for the NDS /NDS Lite / DSi or the lastest DSi XL to read from and write to microSD memory cards.

The question is which one should you buy. The most well known is the R4DS Revolution. As I’ve mentioned plenty of times on this site, it has a massive identity crisis, with a huge amount of imitations, some with similar and some with exactly the same product name. On top of that there are different variations of R4 Cards from the companies that emerged out of the original DS R4 Revolution team. Because the original company has split up, there are no more official updates of the firmware. You can however get unofficial firmware updates.

The M3i Zero has appears very similar and the software it runs is also very similar (so similar that R4DS Revolution and can older editions of the M3 firmware). As with the R4i Gold, the latest edition of the firmware for the DSi was created in early 2009. http://www.r4ds-r4i.com/categories/R4i-Gold/

There are a host of other cards including the DSTTi, AceKard 2i, R4i SDHC. Each has their supporters but there seems to be no easy answer to the question of which is best. At the end of the day they pretty much do the same job and all work reasonably well if you get a good quality unit.
