March 14, 2010 - PRLog -- It’s not every day that you can have your cake and eat it too, but at the multi-cultural Patty Cakes Creative Competition you can have more than your share of cake and help a needy cause at the same time.  Cake lovers, cake artisans, pastry chefs, food service professionals, and the public can enjoy the extraordinary cake competition and will have an opportunity to sample cakes after the competition. Contestants and attendees will have the opportunity to win items ranging from gift certificates to the top tier of some of the cakes and more!
Pastry chefs, cake bakers and cake artists will show off their masterpieces on Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at the Clarkston Conference Center at DeKalb Technical College at 495 E. Indian Creek Road, Clarkston, GA.  Cake designers will compete for the Grand Prize of $1,000 in the first category and $200 in the second category.  The competition is free and open to the public and it will benefit the Safe Haven Transitional, Inc. and The Alpha Center. Due to precautionary measures, children under 15 will not be allowed at the event.
“It is my hope to inspire pastry chefs, cake bakers and cake artists to come together to promote business growth and to show off their awesome techniques and creative designs,” says Patty Green, owner and event coordinator of Patty Cakes Creative Cakes Competition.
Who said you can’t have your cake and eat it too? “I so enjoy holding competitions.  I am meeting people who share my passion for life, learning, baking, and growing as a person.  I, along with many cake artisans are determined to carry on the conclave of baking from the heart and soul,” explains Green.

Green, a well-known event planner in Philadelphia has been passionate about cakes since childhood. She started baking cakes for family, friends, neighbors, businesses and church events over 20 years ago and the rest is history. “It all began with my granddaddy that baked great gingerbread cakes when I was a little girl.  I watched and handed him the ingredients,” she says.  Green, when not planning the competitions, bakes and donates cakes to orphanages, prison ministries and recovery centers, shelters, nursing homes, and battered women and children homes.  Green held many cake competitions in Philadelphia, PA before relocating to Atlanta.
