March 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Nagravision announced an agreement with Rede Globo, the Brazilian television network, to provide TVDR (Digital Television for Rural Areas). This technology is the industry’s first geo-control that provides Globo digital signal via satellite and will replace analogue receivers for HD set-top boxes. The set-top boxes will be provided by Thomson and Prime.

Local programming will allow localized content for each region and support local advertising. Liliana Nakonechnyj, Transmission Technology Director of Rede globo said : “Using Nagravision’s expertise, we have turned the technical challenge of viewers randomly picking up national programming targeted to our affiliates, into an opportunity where those same viewers can reliably access high quality digital regional programming, bringing them additional social value. It’s a win-win for our viewers and our advertisers.”
