Follow on Google News | Website Design Trends for 2010jWeb has complied the best of the best in website design trends for 2010. Here are the top trends to watch out for in 2010.
By: jWeb New Media Design Inc. Once reserved for print media website designers are now implementing different font styles and sizes into their designs to create dramatic bold new looks. On a more practical note, the different stylized typography/illustrated type gives each section of information a compartment that doesn’t get lost in a lot of similar text. By using the varied fonts and strategically placing the text website designers not only deliver a message but a design with impact. 2. Big and Bold – As the old saying goes “Bigger is Better”. In 2010 that seems to be the case. Designers are scaling up fonts, exploding logos, and blowing up the photos. Used on their own, or together going oversized is not over the top in 2010. 3. Getting Artsy- Designers are gravitating towards hand illustrated designs. There’s no doubt about it, an illustrated design can speaks volumes about a company in a way a traditional design can not. Design companies choosing to put the art back into the art departments looks to be the one of the hottest new trends for 2010. Illustrations are good for campaigns – a good campaign can stand alone without a company’s brand on it. Adding the brand to it will bring the company attention from market share(s) they may not have been in the spotlight from beforehand and allows them to stand out from the competition. Using them the right way can allow companies over time to use different illustrative styles without jeopardizing their brand. 4. Magazine Layouts- Who doesn’t read the magazine covers in the grocery store check out line? This is the thinking behind the website layout like a magazine seen on the racks at your favorite news stands. The overall look and feel is familiar. People instantly feel at ease and are able to work their way through websites offerings quickly making them incredibly user friendly. 5. Splash Headers- The old days of using a splash page to introduce a website are long gone but designers are tastefully using Flash in website headers to offer a “splash” of wow. This removes user information frustration and the killing of search engine optimization. 6. Footers Forever- To get lots of information to the users at one time designers are taking website footers to the extreme. In an effort to help user navigate a vast amount of information easily the information is being served up on a “styled” gigantic footer. It certainly gets the users attention straight away and time will tell if it is an effective delivery method. 7. Calls To Action- Designers are being asked to not just deliver a message but convince the user to DO. We will start seeing website that are pro-active with “Buy Here” or “Call Now” buttons. Every sales person knows you have to ask for the business. Designers are now charged with “making the close” part of the design. 8. Keep It Simple- Less is more…..and in some cases that is just what the designer orders. Not all companies brand and culture required you to hit people over the head with explosive design elements. What is not there can say just as much as and sometime more. 9. Collage- Making a collage isn’t just for scrapbook enthusiast and grade school are class anymore. Look for well crafted collage websites to be at the top of the popular website for 2010. They quickly offer the viewer insight into the subject matter. # # # jWeb is a St. Louis based web site development firm that specialized in custom web base applications, content management systems, organic search engine optimization, and cutting edge web designs.
