Chile Mobile Broadband Subscriptions Grew By 380% In 2009

Feb. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Subtel, the Chilean telecommunications regulator, has recently reported the country’s 2009 internet statistics and it comes out that the total broadband internet connections stood at 2.3 million as of last December. The split by type of access shows that nearly 73% of connections are made through fixed networks while the remaining 27% or so are from mobile networks.

More interesting to notice is that mobile broadband subscriptions experienced an outsatnding growth during 2009, soaring from 166,000 in December 2008 to more than 630,000 a year later, which represents a record 380% increase.

As far as fixed broadband subscriptions are concerned, they rose from 1.4 million to more than 1.6 million in the referred period , thus registering a comfortable 15% grwth rate.
