! Keep your clubs dry. Even though they have water resistant coatings, they are still subject to rust. Dry wipe them when you clean them. Have a water proof rain cover for your clubs in your bag at all times.



! Clean each club individually after each round. If need be, use a toothbrush on the grooves. Dry the clubs completely.



! Wash your grips with soap and water, particularly if you've been playing in wet conditions or hot and humid conditions. Oil deposited from a sweaty glove can make grips "slippery when wet" the next time you play.



! Pay attention to the grooves on your clubs. During and after a round, clean the grooves with a brush or tee and wipe off the face with a damp towel. Then dry the club with a dry towel.



! Cover woods with club covers at all times. Banging them inadvertently can do a surprising amount of damage because certain parts of the club face are super thin and not meant to be struck.



! Make sure the dividers in your bag prevent irons from banging against each other. This works far better than using plastic iron covers because iron covers are lost at an average of one per round.



! Treat your clubs like a surgeon treats instruments. After all you are a surgeon, carving up whatever course you play.
