Open Day At Leading Bristol Academy

Jan. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- People from across the South West interested in a career in the motor industry are being invited to an open day being held at one of the country’s leading automotive academies.

The apprenticeship open day is taking place on Thursday 18 February from 2.00pm to 9.00pm at S&B Automotive Academy in Princess Street, Bedminster and will showcase the training, vocational courses and vital qualifications now required by the automotive industry.

Formed more than 30 years ago, the academy is regarded as being the leading institution in the motor sector. It currently trains over 600 students a year with courses ranging from pre-apprenticeships, through apprenticeships for those working in the motor industry, management training and other short courses.

And as vehicles become more and more advanced in terms of technology, means that technicians have to be well ahead of the game in terms of being able to fix first time the problems they come up against.

That is why the academy is constantly evolving the courses it offers so that its students are right up to speed on the latest techniques.

Jon Winter, chief executive said: “We’re really looking forward to showing potential students around our facility in Bedminster.

“We have and are continuing to invest in the academy and we will continue to offer a wide variety of courses. We want to give our apprentices the right qualifications that will help them have a successful career in the motor industry.

“S&B Automotive Academy really is at the forefront of developing innovative new techniques that tests the skills of automotive technicians. By identifying any gaps in their skills means their training can be tailored accordingly so that customers get the best possible service.”

Apprenticeships available at the academy include; light vehicle technician, heavy vehicle technician, motorcycle maintenance and repair, bus and coach technician, vehicle body refinisher, vehicle body repairer, auto electrician and vehicle parts operators.

Along with apprenticeships, the academy now offers a range of Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) short courses for mechanics and motor industry workers and is the only place in the West of England to offer these courses.

The academy has been awarded the Training Quality Standard (TQS) which now places it as one of the top facilities of its kind in the UK.

The open day is taking place on Thursday 18 February from 2.00pm to 9.00pm.
