DEM BIG GIRLS Earns Three Nominations in NEUMA

Scorching Single by Mwalim Gains recognition in New England, illustrated by club, party, Internet and radio play.
 
Jan. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- BOSTON –  When the New England Urban Music Awards announced it’s nominees for the 2010 award ceremony, it can’t help but be noticed that the song DEM BIG GIRLS by Mwalim has been nominated for Best Single in two different categories: R&B and Caribbean. In addition the songs singer/ songwriter/ producer, Mwalim has earned a nomination for Best Caribbean Male Vocalist. “It’s a hit record, plain and simple,” declared DJ Maurice, the house DJ for Biff’s Lounge in Dorchester upon first hearing it.

Quietly slipped into the hands and hard-drives of club and party Djs in early autumn of 2009 as a white label single, DEM BIG GIRLS became a staple for dance floors from Bermuda to Canada. A rising anthem and celebration of the rubenesque beauties of the world, DEM BIG GIRLS also caught a wider audiences attention as a music video, directed by emerging soul artist, Phillip Aaron. Attracting over 4,000 views in a month on Youtube, the artsy b&w visual was filmed in the William E. Reed Auditorium and in Biff’s Lounge in Dorchester at an after-party for the Boston Caribbean Festival.
