FinSoul: Copenhagen negotiators get last ditch call for deal from global businesses.

A strong call for a robust Copenhagen climate deal has come from over 1000 of the worlds largest firms.

Dec. 17, 2009 - PRLog -- FinSoul has learned of a final call issued recently to negotiators at the Copenhagen climate conference calling for world leaders to deliver “a strong legally binding deal’ to fight climate change and global warming.

The joint statement by six of the globes largest business lobbies including the U.S. groups, Ceres and Bicep, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development, The Prince of Wales’ Corporate Leaders Group, the Climate Group and the WWF Climate Savers, insisted that the global business community demanded strong action to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

The alliance of business groups said they represented more than 20 million jobs who generated revenues of at least $2.6 trillion in the last financial year, Finsoul learned.

The declaration goes on to say, "There are rumors floating in and around the Bella Centre that big business would prefer caution and the status quo instead of a treaty that is bold and sets comprehensive reduction targets, that perception is incorrect. More than 1,000 businesses from all continents, most of them global players, are advocating for a strong legally binding deal that reduces carbon pollution and accelerates clean energy innovation on a global scale."

FinSoul research has shown that the groups emphasize the need for a deal that would provide incentives to businesses to invest in low carbon research and technologies to protect economies from the effects of climate change and allow them to make long term investments in clean technologies.
