The markets for christmas trees is worldwide 36 bn $ in 2009 and 10 percent are plastic trees from pvc.  Artificial trees increase by 15 percent per year. The first bioplastic trees on the markets, biodegradable, non-petroleum byproduct, non-toxic.

New application for bioplastics with high growth potentials and fast increasing markets.
The christmas trees market is worldwide 36 billion $ in 2009 and grow with 2 percent per year. 10 percent is plastic with a growth of 15 to 20 percent per year. The main growth areas are US, UK, Asian and SA. The materials is pvc  a petroleum used to make plastic, and  a non-renewable resource, for many people a toxic and dangerous material.
In many countries a burden to the environment trees not recycled and end up in landfills.
70 percent of the pvc trees come from china today.
The manufacture of pvc creates and disperses dioxins, the most toxic man-made chemical known there are hundreds of factories producing uncontrolled pvc trees.
But now also in china bioplastic trees are going in production expected by 2010. This
will take market shares from pvc trees 100 percent over the years and 20 to 40 percent
from natural trees over the next 10 years.
The potential for bioplastics is 12 to 16 billion US $ over 10 to 15 years depending on
the research and development. PVC will be banned in all countries.
