PRLog -- The 1968 Miami Pop Festival was the beginning of a dream that Michael Lang Imagined. This event was a major milestone for most of the groups . The first day had The Crazy World of Arthur Brown start of the performing. following was Blue Cheer, later John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry then as Frank Zappa begins to play Jimi Hendrix begins his decent in a small helicopter carrying Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding . They were soon joined by Linda Eastman McCartney who was photographing Jimi for Album Projects. Linda was responsible for Jimi showing up all stylized she even did highlights in his hair. He was magnificent to say the least. The evening show was a repeat of all of the bands and it was even better, their is a audio recording of Jimi Hendrix performance and it is great . It gives you Goose Bumps.Ken Davidoff managed to get access by way of media credentials and was able to capture some of the most important photos ever taken of any of these artist . This was a rare moment of uniqueness that put together some of the best players we had at that time. Hendrix, Zappa, Chuck Berry, John Lee Hooker all big innovators of Blues and Rock . There are recordings to back my claims I have heard some. I guess when you have people like Eddie Kramer doing Jimi Sound it will come out real good.
The 2 day festival ended up being rained out the 2nd day in the afternoon.Their was a historical jam session that happened at the Hotel Castaway Lounge which had Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, and many more of the artist that performed at Miami Pop Festival 1968. For more info and photos go to
