Dunes’ Back Bay Bistro Launches “sweet” Toy Drive For Spin

Nov. 12, 2009 - PRLog -- Here’s a sweet deal for you…the critically acclaimed Back Bay Bistro at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort in Newport Beach is putting its own “SPIN” on an upcoming holiday toy drive.  Those donating an unwrapped children’s toy valued at $5 or more, during normal business hours, will receive free dessert at the popular restaurant.  Gifts should be geared for those under 12 and they will be distributed to beneficiaries of Serving People In Need (SPIN) by Newport Dunes in early December. The drive will kick off November 1; call (949) 729-1144 for reservations at the Back Bay Bistro.
SPIN is dedicated to the aid and rehabilitation of homeless people in Orange County.  The organization was founded in 1987 by Sam Boyce and six friends who began distributing food to homeless individuals and families.  They soon realized that hunger was but a symptom of more serious problems so they expanded their mission to help clients become more self sufficient.  They have achieved an 85% success rate in helping clients find homes, jobs and free themselves from public assistance.
“We’re delighted to announce our 2009 toy drive benefiting the children in the SPIN program – a population that is sadly increasing due to the economy,” said Dunes Vice President and General Manager Andrew Theodorou.  “We hope that the public supports our toy drive as it will hopefully brighten the holidays for these youngsters, who, for no fault of their own, are facing a dismal future.”

The Dunes also is home to the Back Bay Bistro, the resort’s newly renovated onsite restaurant that overlooks the tranquil waters of Upper Newport Bay.  Situated adjacent to the Dunes’ six-lane boat launch, the restaurant offers casual upscale dining with such amenities as a retractable roof that spans a large al fresco dining area.  The resort also offers professional catering and event planning services for festive beach parties and for special events from 50 to 5000 guests.
