Nov. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- This town hall meeting  will take place at the Boll Famiy YMCA, in Detroit, Michigan at noon.  This event  will provide the community with the opportunity to 1) hear information regarding the proposed health care legislation; 2) engage in meaningful discussion of this critical issue; 3) voice their opinions to public figures and elected officials and 4) leave empowered to voice their opinions to members of congress before the issue goes before the House for a vote.
Dr. Lucy Perez, National Director of Intergovernmental and Public Affairs for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and Constance Hendricks, Ph.D., RN, chair of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Health Justice signature program have prepared a non-partisan Town Hall format that will include a panel of learned scholars and health care experts. International President Sheryl P. Underwood is emphatic that Zeta Phi Beta Sorority assumes a leadership role in educating American citizens about the most important health legislation that will be enacted in their life time, health care reform.
According to Underwood, “It is our responsibility to engage the community in dialogue, with clarity and civility, so that our nation will lead by making sure that every citizen, of the great United States, has health care. Why? Because, if you’re not healthy, you cannot work. If you are not healthy, your quality of life is compromised, and you can not be a productive citizen of this nation or the world.”
Many national community leaders are lending their support to the Town Hall Meetings on Health Care, including Robert “Bob” Brown, Chairman and Founder of B&C Associates, Inc., who says "The nation's current health care discussion is of vital importance to all of our citizens. There are many questions surrounding this issue. People are looking for unbiased answers. I'm pleased to lend my personal support to Zeta Phi Beta's efforts to educate and inform the community, on a national level, and provide an opportunity for people to engage in meaningful conversation around this topic." B&C Associates, Inc. is an international public relations, research, marketing and crisis management services firm, based in High Point, NC.
