Lessons on Leadership from Abraham Lincoln-Robin Trehan

Trust can sometimes be a hard thing to obtain, but because of his actions people trusted him. Abraham was a man of his word and he was very honest. He didn’t make empty promises and if he said he would do something he did it.

The most valuable leadership lessons we could learn and put to use daily come from Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States of America. His greatest desire was to improve the world and he did what he had to do whether he liked it or not. Of course there were times of defeat before becoming President, but he never gave up. Abraham was not the type of person to wait for things to happen, he made them happen.

He built a strong team and even though they happened to be rivals, even viewing things differently from a political standpoint, they cooperated. He was very humble and he never let the power of being President go to his head. He stayed true to himself, as well as others. One of the things that made him stand out was the compassion and understanding he showed to others. There are always two sides to every story and he would listen to both sides. He never hid behind his authority, making sure that he was always available to listen when others had something to say.  He faced situations head on and did what he had to do to get things done but while doing so, he always put others before himself.

Trust can sometimes be a hard thing to obtain, but because of his actions people trusted him. Abraham was a man of his word and he was very honest. He didn’t make empty promises and if he said he would do something he did it. If somewhere along the way he made a mistake, he was never afraid to admit it. Abraham never assumed he was better than anyone, he believed all were created equal. He was a fearless leader and he was never afraid to take the road less traveled.
