Accident Coverage Provided by Your Homeowners Insurance Policy

New InsuranceAgents.com article discusses home insurance coverage for accidents.

Oct. 28, 2009 - PRLog -- Chicago (InsuranceAgents.com) – The little things add up and when it comes to accidents, homeowners can never fully prepare for what could happen around the house. Luckily, in your homeowners insurance policy, accidental damage that is caused suddenly but not intentionally can be fixed and paid for solely by your insurance provider and not out of your own pocket.

In a recent article posted by InsuranceAgents.com, “Homeowners Insurance: Accidents Happen,” they state that its important for homeowners to be aware of their home insurance policies because while accidents can be covered, under specific circumstances, they may not be. And if you know that your home will be prone to certain accidents than others, such as stained carpets or torn furniture, its important to include these specifics to your policy. “Those homeowners with children can attest more than anyone that they are a leading cause of household accidents. For example, your carpeting might be covered if it is stained but if apple juice is spilled on your laptop then you may be out of luck,” states the article. Pet owners also need to be aware that any damage your pet may cause around the house is only covered if specifically mentioned in your policy. If you are a pet owner, even if you don’t think you will have a problem, get coverage just in case.

Every homeowner needs different coverage to provide protection to his or her specific lifestyle. Talk to your homeowners insurance agent to make sure you have all the coverage you need and are not paying extra for coverage you don’t need.
