If your children want BBQ outdoor, pre-heat the oven until it gets really hot. This will sear the outside of the meat and keep the juices in. It is better to use thongs or a spatula instead of a fork to prevent juices from leaking down.

You should never cook with any wine that you did not drink. A strange taste can be destroy the spice you expect.

To roast garlic, you had better sprinkle the bulb with a little olive oil and white wine, salt and pepper. Wrap it in tin foil and roast in a 350 degree oven for approximately one hour. You will make it good.

Remember that when you roast, save  the pan juices for your gravy. Most people like food served with it, especially children.

One day, try using carrots to sweeten your sauces. You may find it better than sugar.

Put peppercorns in a zip lock bag and then crack them on your cutting board with a hammer. It is noisy so you should be sure that nobody who is having a headache is around. Otherwise, set your pepper mill to course grain instead.

When buying cabbage, you should look for heads that seem heavier than their size with crisp leaves. It may be fresh and safe to eat.
Hope you have  a nice time with your cooking!
