Don't Let Pests Take Over Your Tailgating Party

Oct. 13, 2009 - PRLog -- Football season is here and millions of football fans are gathering with friends for the weekly tailgating party.  These parties have become a haven for all sorts of pests.  Palmer Pest Management has some tips to help you keep these unwanted pests from ruining your next party and weekend.

There are several types of insects that are known for hanging around tailgating parties. Crazy Ants, Mosquitoes and Brown Recluse Spiders all fit the profile of tailgate party crashers. Each of these insects has the ability to cause problems for food, guests and pets under the right conditions.

One such pest is the Brown Recluse Spider.  Brown Recluse spiders are known for their reclusive nature and avoid humans.  However, despite their reclusive nature, they do bite humans.  As a result of their reclusive nature, they tend to hangout in your shoes that are laying around the tailgating area. This is the most common way of people getting bit by the Black Recluse Spider at tailgating parties. To prevent this from happening to you, make sure that you shake your shoes before putting them back on.

As far as the other types of insects, such as crazy ants, make sure that you keep your food in properly sealed containers because the food scent will otherwise attract these uninvited guests.
