Lost Over 100lbs Now Want to Help Others

I lost over 100lbs. I have developed a unique way of helping others to do the same.

Oct. 11, 2009 - PRLog -- Have you ever been in a place in your life where you don’t like yourself much and nothing seems to go right? A place where you feel as if you aren’t even you anymore?

I have!
In March of this year, 2009, I weighed 328lbs.  I was in a place in my life where I felt I had lost all control of myself.  I didn’t recognize ME anymore.  The person I had become was not a person I liked.

I decided to change things.  I realized it was time for me to take back control of ME.  For years I had told people that “the only thing you can control is yourself.”  It was time for me to start practicing what I had preached.

I had spent over a decade helping people loose weight, gain strength, get in shape, and take back control of their lives.  I was a personal trainer.

I ’d helped quite a few people lose up to and over 100lbs.  They didn’t just lose weight though, they gained their lives back.

That’s what I had to do…  I had to regain myself.  I started March 1, 2009 on a journey to do just that.

During my years as a personal trainer I had taught people a simple truth.  The only thing in the world we have any control or power over is ourselves.

It was time for me to realize this truth.  I have the power and ability to change me and my physical state.  I don’t have the power over anything else.

Just like I had told so many people before, the first thing I had to do was set a goal with a deadline.  You have to be specific in where you want to go and how long it’s going to take to get there.  Without a starting point how can you ever know where you’ll end up?

So, I set my goal.  On March 1, 2009 I decided to lose 100lbs by my 39th birthday, which happened to be 6 months away on September 1, 2009.

The next thing I did was create a plan.  It included, turning my binge eating habits into a sound nutritional program of 5 to 6 properly portioned meals daily.  I would consume healthier food choices of a diet higher in protein, moderate carbohydrates and low in fat, and choose not to have any carbohydrates in the evening.

I knew I had to implement an exercise routine to get the best results, and I decided the best plan would consist of cardiovascular activity, and resistance training, along with flexibility training.  Wanting to get in the best overall shape possible, I felt all three components were necessary.  The plan was a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio 5 to 6 times a week, strength training 4 to 5 times a week and stretching 15 to 30 minutes daily.

I knew this plan would cause me to make sacrifices.  I’d have to pass up on some of the sleep I was getting.  I chose to do my cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, so I’d have to get up a little earlier.  There would be other sacrifices too, but I knew it would be worth it.

Commitment is another key ingredient.  There were going to be days that I wouldn’t feel like following the plan.  Being committed to something makes it a priority in your life.  Usually if you’re committed to something, your passionate about it and will sacrifice and do things you don’t want to so your commitment is honored.

Persistence and consistency are huge factors in the success of getting your life back.  One of my favorite sayings is, “Persistence outweighs resistance.”  When things get tough, you have to stay focused and not allow obstacles to get you off track.

Obstacles are going to present themselves.  I had to keep reminding myself of this one!  It’s up to you whether something that’s merely an obstacle becomes an excuse.  Stay focused!  I preached that one a lot to the folks I’d helped.  It’s a fact though, that they will all attest too.

Remembering the people I’d helped accomplish their goals over the years, reminded me that these strategies I had in place worked.  It reminded me of the importance of identifying the obstacles and then deciding if I would go around, over, under or straight through them.

Like so many people I had family obligations, time restraints, financial and physical limitations.  I had holidays and birthdays, births and deaths.  I had to remember that all of that was out of my control.  The only thing I could control was me.

I did it!  I achieved my goal and went from 328lbs on March 1, 2009 to 228 lbs on August 28, 2009.  Three days before my birthday!  Now that I’ve accomplished that, I’ve found I have a lot more focus in other areas of my life.  I have regained myself, and control of ME.

I’ve once again, started helping other people do the same thing.  I founded GetRight! body, mind, spirit during my journey, and have been fortunate enough to  have helped several people reach their goals.

I’m still a work in progress and have moved on to another goal now.  My goal is to help generate over 3000lbs of fat loss in the year 2010!

In an effort to help ensure the success of achieving this goal, GetRight! is now offering a “Name Your Price” system for personal training.  I don’t want anyone stuck in the place I was in because they don’t think they can afford the help they need.  With this new system of pricing we will provide our clients with a customized personal training experience that will not only get them the results they are looking for, but at a price they are comfortable with.  We are removing financial limitations from that list of obstacles!

I want to help as many people as possible, get there life back.  I know how much better I feel now and I want to share what I’ve learned and know with everyone that can benefit from it.

If I can do it, anybody can do it!  I’m confident that I’ll fulfill my new goal.

If you’re ready to get your life back, I’m ready to help you!

I’ve accomplished a few things in my time, but nothing has ever been as rewarding as helping someone regain their life.

My website, www.getrightpt.com has several testimonials from people I’ve helped.  They have all inspired me and I’m sure they’ll inspire you!
