Self Published Author Looks Into the Child Obesity Trend in His Xlibris Release

T. Allan Brenner reveals childhood obesity as an increasingly alarming trend worldwide and presents solutions to curb it.

Oct. 6, 2009 - PRLog -- Obesity in children has become increasingly common not just in the United States but all over the world. The World Health Organization has considered child obesity a global epidemic.

Studies show that obese children are most likely to carry this condition until adulthood. In fact, they are more prone to a plethora of health problems. Chronic diseases such as coronary artery disease, hypertension, diabetes, metabolic disease and certain types of cancer also develop in childhood as well.

Aside from health problems, obese children tend to have low self-esteem, as they are often teased. They also become left out of social activities because they move about slow. This makes them susceptible to depression. Left untreated, obesity can be fatal to one’s health.

With the right diet and exercise, this condition can be treated. This is where the role of parents comes in. They should serve as positive role models for their child and give all the support and encouragement possible.

T. Allan Brenner’s self-published book, The Childhood Obesity Dilemma, critically looks at child obesity and presents realistic solutions to curb this growing trend. This book is a must-read not only for parents, but also for community leaders and policy makers as well.
