ATLANTA, October 1, 2009 – A unique “ring browser” design won top digital agency LBi Atlanta’s new website Design Licks’ “Site of the Day” on September 15, 2009. One of the leading references in the world of web design awards, Design Licks (http://www.designlicks.com) consistently recognizes “the most creative and well designed websites around the world” and chose the Atlanta agency’s site (http://www.lbiatlanta.com) from among hundreds of submissions. LBiAtlanta.com offers a captivating combination of thought provoking content and a dynamic, multi-modal interface.

The centerpiece of the LBi site is its innovative navigation system. Through a unique “browse” capability conceived and developed by Art Director Alexander Kurth and Senior Flash Developer Chris Rebel, pages are arrayed dimensionally as a series of graphic rings that rotate freely in a cylindrical stack.
•   Each ring, representing a section in the primary navigation, is composed of each section’s pages. Users can spin or navigate through the rings using their mouse or arrow keys.
•   Clicking on any of the pages in a ring zooms the user into that page, which becomes fully interactive with more traditional navigation elements, and allows one to click laterally through the full-scale pages of the section.
•   A mini representation of the ring cylinder is always available for users wishing to return to the “browse” perspective.

“We wanted to create an interface that showcased our design and technology expertise without sacrificing anything in the user experience,” said Executive Creative Director Thurston Yates. “The site nicely balances a very modern, aesthetically-driven navigation system with one that functions more traditionally. The interplay between the two is fluid and uncomplicated.”

The site’s content is anchored by a collection of articles reflecting a central “perspective” rooted in modern digital branding issues. The inaugural perspective explores “The Power of Place” and the considerations, challenges and outcomes of helping Brands develop authenticity in digital environments. Subsequent perspectives will address the current digital landscape and the evolving the state of online branding. Prerequisite agency information is also available highlighting the company’s heritage, services, and featured clients and projects.
