Students come from all around the world to study here, and the streets are vibrant and filled with young people speaking different languages.  

The city's history goes all the way back to its founding in 123 B.C. by the Romans.  The medieval center of the city is an architectural jewel.  The most famous of the streets is the Cours Mirabeau, a wide avenue with shops and restaurants lining the street.  

The most famous resident of Aix-en-Provence was the great painter Paul Cezanne.

Aix-en-Provence is close to Marseilles, Avignon, and the Luberon region of Provence; and Nice and the French Riviera are within easy reach by train or car.  Aix-en-Provence gets about 300 days of sunshine each year.
