Sept. 9, 2009 - PRLog -- President Obama on Tuesday managed to avoid wading into political matters in his speech to the nation’s schoolchildren, but in a more intimate discussion with 32 ninth graders that preceded the speech, Mr. Obama discussed everything from health care to Facebook to Ghandi. In reply to a student who asked for advice on how to become president of the United States, Mr. Obama replied, “Be careful what you post on Facebook.” He also told the students to find something they are passionate about.

Obama’s advice to a group of high school students followed reports that prospective employers may be mining social networking sights for background information on job applicants.

“There are a lot of politicians like that who, all they’re thinking about is just, how do I get re-elected, and so they never actually get anything done,” he said.

“First of all, I want everybody here to be careful about what you post on Facebook, because in the YouTube age whatever you do, it will be pulled up again later somewhere in your life,” Obama said.

“And when you’re young, you know, you make mistakes and you do some stupid stuff.

“I’ve been hearing a lot about young people who, you know, they’re posting stuff on Facebook, and then suddenly they go apply for a job, and …”

Obama’s advice about the perils of modern technology were born of bitter experience, as he has fallen victim to the YouTube age of modern campaign politics several times himself when off-the-cuff remarks or events have shown up on web videos or blogs.

Facebook has been getting a lot of flack for the security issues it’s been having for the past few years. A new alternative for using Facebook or Myspace is Knoyce.com. Knoyce.com is the newest social media networking site that allows it’s members to log into social networking site such as Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn, Youtube, Hulu, Friendfeed, Friendster, StumbleUpon, Digg, Technorati and other social networks without leaving Knoyce.
