Family Of Artists Opens Shop For Modern Moms In Historic District

Sept. 9, 2009 - PRLog -- SANFORD, FL, October 10, 2009--Fawn(TM) is the brainchild of local artist and self-proclaimed "hip mama" Freedom Martinez, who wanted to bring together her passions for inspiring women, connecting people, earth-friendly practices, and of course--shopping! Together with her family members, who are each contributing specific creative talents, they are accomplishing that and more through launching this unique store concept. Opening on Saturday, October 10 in the recently revitalized Sanford Historic District in Central Florida, Fawn is an urban-inspired family boutique offering new, recycled, and handmade apparel, unique gifts, gear and toys.


In the course of raising her own children, Vivia (4 yrs.) and Rio (1 yr.), Freedom began to recognize that availability of hipster fashion and cool products for moms, babies and kids was, well, not so available outside of the "big city". So she began create her own unique items, like her kids' whimsical name boards, and also began to pick up unique baby and children's items during her travels. She explains, "At some point I realized that my passions and hobbies centered around the idea that moms who live in the 'sub-urbs' shouldn't have to settle for the 'sub-standard.'" It was in the midst of this realization that Fawn was born.


In addition to offering the variety of modern must-have items for moms and new moms, unique hand-crafted imports and gently-used designer apparel, Freedom says excitedly, "we've also formed a co-op of local artisans, designers, and momtrepreneurs to offer high quality, one-of-a-kind items." As she thoughtfully sips her chai latte she adds, "basically Fawn represents all the unique stuff for moms, babies and kids that--until now--was impossible to find."


All Fawn products are researched to ensure their purchase benefits moms and their families in places like Peru, Mexico, Europe, India, and others. In keeping with the morally and socially-conscious business ideals of Fawn, a corner of the store called “Fawn Recycled” features barely-used high quality children’s and maternity clothing.


Fawn is a family endeavor at its very core, made up of Freedom, her brother, sisters and Mom (aka Grandma Bella)- all with their own unique talents and products to bring to the table. “We come from a very creative family," Freedom muses, "my mother designs and sews handmade clothes, my sister is an amazingly artistic photographer and clothing designer, my brother and his Slovakian wife have their own European-inspired line of clothing… I can't imagine attempting this without my family's involvement!"
