22 Year Old Finds Success With Online Public Relations Firm

Even while still in high school Wes Upchurch found success on the Internet, designing websites for a number of major clients. As a freelancer he designed websites for radio stations, bands, and local businesses learning the ends and outs of marketing online. Through trial and error he discovered that with Internet marketing and SEO, public relations is often over looked. After launching several unique services in different areas of search engine marketing, he's learned what works and what doesn’t. Although he only launched it in January, this online public relations firm has already worked to the advantage of fortune 500 companies and local stores alike. Having already won an Interactive Media Award and international competitions in programming, e-commerce business, and web site design, Wes Upchurch is thrilled to have turned the industry around. The secret to surviving the economy he says is, "to focus on your customer, not on your bottom line." When asked if clients doubt him because of his age he responded, "I look at my youthfulness as a great advantage. I've grown up with technology," he says, "It comes natural, and I've got time on my side to develop bigger and better solutions for my customers."

Upchurch's advice to aspiring marketing professionals: “Follow your dreams. Don't be scared to take risks and endure failures. It’s a fact young people are scared to go into business for themselves, because they fear failure or think that business is only for older established people, but the truth is that we as young people have an advantage. That advantage is if we fail, we have more chances to get up, redeem ourselves and apply what we learned from the experience.”
