By: Tanya Daly The University of Sunderland is one of the foremost Artificial Intelligence institutes in the world and we are working with them to further improve the intelligence of the Artificially Intelligent Call Centre. They also have specialist Human Computer Interface (HCI) expertise and lab facilities which we are using to validate and improve our system. The HCI lab facilities include one-way mirror and eye-tracking technology which allows us to gather the user feedback needed to validate that our design is easy to learn, easy to use and easy to remember. Dr Odin Taylor, an expert in AI and software development is leading this collaborative venture and along with Professor MacIntyre, he is channelling the relevant experts in various software development areas to give us access to specialist expertise and to give the University resources exposure to real world issues. We are also working with Software City to locate a suitable facility for our AI Call Centre Warehouse, this is the facility that will host our on-demand service where thousands of virtual agents will be based. As well as the first class internet and telecom links in the area, there is a large human resource pool with the relevant technical and operational skills to support our virtual agent call centres. Many of these people have lost out due to call centres being moved offshore, "We're going to bring those jobs back to the UK, back to the North East" said Karl Dorner, Director of Artingence.
