Award Winning and Renowned Pianist Ian Parker to Perform at Adelphi University

Aug. 28, 2009 - PRLog -- Adelphi University welcomes Canadian pianist Ian Parker, who will showcase his talent for the community on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. in the 500-seat acoustically state-of-the-art concert hall at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (AU PAC), 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The diverse program features works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Fryderyk Chopin, Alexina Louie, and Franz Liszt, and appeals to musically inclined audiences as well as first-time listeners. Selections include Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in C-sharp minor, Op. 27, No. 2, “Moonlight,” and Chopin’s Fantasie in F minor, Op. 49, and will be played on the regal Fazioli Concert Grand piano. Ticketholders are invited to attend a free wine and cheese reception that will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Parker has performed in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Israel. He has appeared with the Cleveland Orchestra, the National Symphony, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and the Toronto Symphony, and has toured with the Vogler Quartet during its twentieth anniversary tour from 2005 to 2006. He made his Lincoln Center recital debut at the Walter Reade Theater in 2004.

Twice named the winner of the Gina Bachauer Piano Scholarship Competition, Mr. Parker received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Juilliard School. The Canadian Council for the Arts awarded him the Sylva Gelber Career Grant, which is given annually to the “most talented Canadian artist.”
