Aug. 27, 2009 - PRLog -- (New Bloomfield, MO) To help hardworking Americans realize the dream of owning a log home, the largest oak log home manufacturer in the U.S. has launched its own rebate program. All buyers putting a deposit down on a new home by Nov. 1st are receiving $8,500 in home building credit from Gastineau Log Homes in New Bloomfield, Missouri.

The company has seen a surge of clients who are using the rebate to furnish their homes, or add that hot tub or sunroom they’ve always wanted.

“Uncle Sam won’t give you a rebate on a new log home. But I will!” said Lynn Gastineau, president of Gastineau Log Homes in New Bloomfield, MO.  “Instead of cash for clunkers or appliances, we’re offering a rebate toward your new log home. Washington won’t go that far, but we sure will.”

Gastineau stresses this rebate is open to everyone, not just first-time home buyers.  Place a deposit by Nov. 1st and take your first delivery of logs by Dec. 31st and you will receive a $8,500 credit toward your new home.

“With the stock market climbing steadily, historically low interest rates and land costs dropping, many of our customers have decided now is the time to build their home with the beauty of oak. We created this incentive to reward their courage in making that dream a reality,” said Gastineau.

Dave Starr and his wife Sally in Centennial, CO, have taken advantage of the rebate. “We were going to wait till next year to build our log cabin. But reducing the cost of a log home kit by $8,500 is too good of a deal to pass up,” Dave Starr said.

Gastineau says many buyers are also attracted to the sustainable aspect of log home construction. “When it comes to ‘Think Globally, Act Locally,’ log home construction is that phrase personified,” Gastineau said.  Oak is a sustainable building material common in Missouri and the Midwest. Plus, building a new home helps the local economy with real jobs.  Since Gastineau Log Homes has a network of builders/dealers nationwide, you can boost your local economy by buying and building now.

Each new home built creates about three jobs on average and generates about $90,000 in taxes paid to local and federal authorities, according to the National Association of Home Builders.

But that’s just the direct economic impact. A trickle of new home building can become a torrent of local economic activity, researchers say. New home buyers jump start the local economy by spending an average of $12,332 in the first year in their new home, on everything from new furnishings ($5,208) to appliances ($2,769) and more, according to the “Spending Patterns of New Home Buyers” by HousingEconomics.com

“Our rebate is designed to not only help our clients realize their dream of a log home, it also helps with those first-year costs. It’s also win-win for the local economy and the environment,” Gastineau says.
