Aug. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- More properly known as the Bayonet Neill-Concelman connector, the BNC connector is one of several radio frequency connectors on the market today. The name of the connector is derived from a combination of two things: 1) the connecting technology employed; and 2) the names of the two inventors of the device. Paul Neill of Bell Labs and Carl Concelman sought to develop a connector that would employ a bayonet mount mechanism for locking. After the plug of the BNC is inserted, it is turned, causing pins in the socket to be pinched into a locking groove on the plug.

The BNC connector is the most commonly used connector used to terminate your coaxial cable so you can attach it to your DVR and security camera.  The coaxial cable most commonly used in CCTV applications is RG59/U or RG6/U.  So BNC connectors are made to fit the specific size and type of coaxial cable.  You will see that there are two main types of BNC connectors used in CCTV.  The first is a crimp BNC and the second is a compression BNC.  This is the act of actually attaching the connector to the cable.  Using crimping is really the oldest and most unreliable way to put on a BNC connector where compression BNC connectors are the modern and most recommended way to put on a BNC.  Compression BNC connectors attach better to the cable and hinder moisture and dust from effecting your connection.  Both crimp and compression styles take special tools and special connectors that allow each termination style.

So what does all this mean?  If you are struggling to find the right set up to install BNC connectors to your coax cable here is a recommendation of best system to use!  The professional installer’s choice for BNC terminations are the connectors and tools offered by ICM Corp. the world leader in professional AV connector and tool products.

The ICM DB Compression Connection System creates two 360 º compression connections providing a permanent, “double bubble” connection.  This system is deal for security cameras and other exposed wiring installations. The unique double bubble connection provides superior protection against moisture leakage limiting poor signal quality due to the environmental elements.  The DB system offers both plenum and non-plenum cable BNC connectors.

The DB system uses the CPLCRBC-B Cable Pro Radial Bubble (DB) Compression Tool.  There is no tool that installs a better quality and better looking BNC connection.  With the ICM CPLCRBC-B tools you have numerous BNC connector options that fit you needs.   Visit CableGiant for a specification sheet and pricing on the ICM CPLCRBC-B tools! http://www.cablegiant.com/Default.aspx?p_id=4&Product_id=376

For the BNC connectors themselves you have the DB59BNCPL2/4 Double Bubble RG59 BNC connector for use with Plenum Cable and the DB59BNCU for non-plenum RG59 cable.  Also, available are BNC connectors for RG6 and the new high definition BNC connectors used for broadcast video applications.  These BNC connector offer the patented “no blind entry” feature so there is no doubt you are making a solid connection.   For a more information on ICM BNC connectors visit CableGiant and pick the best BNC connector for your CCTV project! http://www.cablegiant.com/default.aspx?p_id=1&c_id=15&pag...
