Podcast Interview: Green IT Strategy gets Connected to Research

GreenITStrategy.com interview of CEO & Research Director at Connected Research

Aug. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- GreenITStrategy (http://www.greenitstrategy.com) today released the latest in a series of green IT podcast interviews.  Founder of GreenITStrategy.com Bianca Wirth recently interviewed both the CEO and the Research Director of Connection Research - William Ehmcke and Graeme Philipson.  Well-known in the IT industry for their connections with Meta Group and the Sydney Morning Herald, Ehmcke and Philipson discussed their development of a sustainability focussed research business in a succinct 9-minute chat.

Asked for their top tip on green IT during the interview, Philipson responded, “People tend to go for what they call the low hanging fruit or the quick wins, you know things like turning your PCs off at night.  That’s important but it’s really marginal.
The key to green IT and the key to a proper green IT strategy is looking at how IT can help lower the footprint of the whole organisation because the footprint of the whole organisation is a lot bigger than the footprint of IT which is only a couple of percent.  So go after the other 98%, look at where IT can help in supply chain, and in business process optimisation.”
